I have read several books written by Chinese authors, the most recent being "Shanghai Baby" by Wei Hui. The book was good, but me, being the romantic that I am (I'm still not very sure if I'm a romantic) didn't like the ending of the story, and I was pretty mad at the heroine for making Tian Tian (her impotent boyfriend) even more depressed than he already is and for cuckolding him... with a married German guy, no less. The book sounded more or less like an autobiography, although the author mentioned in the book that she was trying her best to disguise herself from the readers. Anyway, the book mentioned places in Shanghai that I fell in love with on my trip there: the Pudong area, the Bund, the Huangpu River, Nanjing Road.... etc. etc., and it made me want to go back. I would like to go back to Shanghai soon and experience it's nightlife to the fullest.
